This study aims to analyze the rate of land-use change in paddy fields and compare farmers' incomes before and after land conversion in Aceh Besar Regency. The research was conducted in Peukan Bada and Darul Imarah Subdistricts, with strategic location selection considering the conversion of paddy fields into non-agricultural land. The methods employed include descriptive and quantitative analyses. Descriptive analysis provides explanations for the data, while quantitative analysis evaluates the rate of land conversion and its impact on farmers' income. The data collected consists of primary and secondary data. Primary data was obtained through observations and in-depth interviews, while secondary data was gathered from literature studies, including relevant journals and publications. Data processing was carried out using SPSS version 25 and ArcGIS software. The results show that over ten years, Darul Imarah Subdistrict experienced a decrease in paddy field area from 825.64 hectares to 675.33 hectares, with a negative conversion rate of -18.21%. This reduction was due to the conversion into residential and commercial land. In contrast, Peukan Bada Subdistrict experienced an increase in paddy field area from 340.53 hectares to 391.88 hectares, with a positive conversion rate of 15.77% due to the creation of new paddy fields. The average farmer income in Darul Imarah before conversion was Rp 1,017,188, increasing to Rp 1,385,577 after conversion, while in Peukan Bada, the average income increased from Rp 1,072,917 to Rp 1,545,313. These findings indicate that the conversion of paddy fields has significantly impacted the structure of farmers' incomes. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
