The biogenic synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) was carried out and studied in detail using the extract of Calotropis gigantea, which grows at geothermal areas. Synthesized AgNPs were combining silver nitrate solution with the leaf extract at pH 9, followed by incubation for 48 hours at 60 rpm. The phenolic content of C. gigantea was 14.48±0.98 mg (GAE/g). The formation of AgNPs was indicated by a color change to brown. A comprehensive phytochemical analysis of C. gigantea was conducted to spot the bioactive compounds involved in the reduction and stabilization processes. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) characterization revealed that the AgNPs were spherical and some polygonal aggregates with a dominant silver content of 60.8%. In conclusion, this research demonstrates a reliable, rapid, and eco-friendly approach for synthesizing AgNPs. The high silver content and successful characterization of the nanoparticles highlight their potential applications in various fields. The study also provides insights into the interaction of phytol of C. gigantea with AgNPs, suggesting further areas for research in green synthesis methodologies. © 2025 Institute of Physics Publishing.
