Cocoa holds substantial economic potential as a leading commodity in Pidie Jaya Regency. However, the lack of an efficient traceability mechanism has hampered the supply chain's competitive advantage, quality control, and market reach. The likelihood of establishing a cocoa traceability system in Pidie Jaya is investigated in this review, along with the potential advantages and disadvantages for supply chain participants. Through a systematic review of previous studies and relevant data, this paper identifies critical factors influencing implementation feasibility, including stakeholder readiness, cost implications, and infrastructure requirements. The results indicate that although the traceability system is challenging to establish, its advantages, including better product quality control and increased market transparency, could significantly raise the value of Pidie Jaya's cocoa worldwide value. The traceability system has the potential to be a successful tactic for establishing Pidie Jaya's cocoa as a premium regional commodity with sufficient government backing, technology expenditures, and capacity-building programs for local farmers. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
