The conservation of the Sumatran elephant population in Aceh Province is an urgent ecological issue, particularly with the increasing illegal hunting and killing of Sumatran elephants. The habitat of the Sumatran elephant in Aceh is undergoing damaging changes, disrupting their home range. This study aims to determine changes in elephant behavior caused by environmental changes in the Aceh Forest Area. The research was conducted in five disturbed locations: Aceh Timur District, Aceh Selatan District, Pidie District, Bener Meriah District, and Aceh Tengah District. Data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews, and questionnaires. Behavioral change analysis was carried out descriptively, while the identification of areas used by elephants was analyzed using GIS (Geographic Information System). The results showed that changes in the elephant corridors at each location led to behavioral changes in food consumption. The mitigation process using sound impacted the habituation of Sumatran elephants to these sounds. Additionally, the elephants showed a preference for elevations ranging from 400 meters above sea level. Human-elephant conflict activities were observed in the five main districts. The supporting factors for these conflicts included community activities in the forest, such as farming, mining, and other activities that produce noises disturbing to the wildlife in the forest. © 2025 Institute of Physics Publishing.
