West Aceh Regency, Indonesia has a Nipah ecotourism development area, one of the main attractions for optimizing tourism. Nipah is a mangrove forest that can absorb large amounts of carbon stored in its stems and roots for long periods. This research analyzes individual density and carbon potential in the Nipah ecotourism development area, West Aceh Regency, Indonesia. The method used is quantitative, utilizing Regional Vegetation Index (NDVI) values from Landsat 8 OLI TIRS Image data in 2024. The research results showed that the average number of Nipah palm trees was 321 trees per plot with a density of 8,265 trees per hectare, and the average height of Nipah palm trees ranged from 3.0 to 8.5 meters. The average biomass for sparse strata is 13,869 tons/ha, medium strata 15,710 tons/ha, and dense strata 18,388 tons/ha, with an estimated total carbon stock of 186,838 tons/ha and CO2 uptake of 274,034 tons/ha. This study provides a comprehensive picture of Individual Density and Carbon Potential in the Nipah ecotourism development area, West Aceh Regency, Indonesia which can be used as a basis for planning strategies for developing Nipah ecotourism. © 2025 Institute of Physics Publishing.
