Aceh Besar and Aceh Jaya districts are the areas of Aceh that were affected by the earthquake and tsunami that occurred in 2004. The school is one of the communities most at risk of being affected by the earthquake and tsunami. Besides that, it is a place for developing an education model for earthquake preparedness and tsunamis. As an area prone to earthquakes and tsunamis, the preparedness of education units is urgently needed to prevent casualties. This study aims to determine the level of preparedness of school institutions, teachers, and students. Data were obtained from two public senior high schools in Aceh Besar and Aceh Jaya by distributing survey questionnaires, observations, and documentation. A total of 44 teachers and 173 students participated in this study. © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences.
