As a nonstructural material, gypsum board has been utilized extensively in construction projects. The most common type of synthetic fiber used to reinforce commercial gypsum board is glass fiber. Natural components are increasingly being used in industrial products in place of synthetic ones due to environmental concerns. This project involved the creation of a gypsum board reinforced with natural fibers, specifically abaca fiber. Gypsum board with varied abaca fiber contents (0, 1, 2, 3, and 4%) was made in order to study the effects of fiber content on the flexural strength and other physical properties of gypsum panels. The experiment was developed in line with Indonesian Standard SNI 01-4449-2006, as were the materials used in it. The results of the experiment showed that the amount of fiber in 388abaca-gypsum board significantly affected their density, moisture content, water absorption, and thickness development. The gypsum board with the highest flexural strength, 54.9 MPa, had a 2% fiber content. Abaca fiber could be used as reinforcement, according to the experiment’s findings on its flexural strength and physical qualities. © 2026 by Apple Academic Press, Inc.
