Abstract

Wireless network communication, particularly when user equipment conducts its mobility and maintains its connection in order to stay alert when automatically switching service among base stations, needs a handover method that guarantees the communication is stable with no disturbance from the distance of the base station and the speed of the user equipment. The convenience of communication during handover depends on the quality of service that provides the level of different services in arranging and giving traffic priority in the network. This research is designed using a one-way trajectory with eight base stations and speed variations of 45 km/hour, 60km/hour, and a distance of the base station of 7 km. The effects of hard handover with the performance of RRSI and RSRP against the parameter performance of service quality with the service of voice over internet protocol when entering the critical signal area and must conduct handover with the constant speed that analyzed based on telecommunication reference and internet protocol harmonization over networks. Simulation using optimized network engineering tools modeler educational. The result of a test that was carried out using the hard handover for voice-over-internet application, obtained a better averagejitter result for a speed of 45 km/hour compared to a speed of 65 km/hour. The average delay for 45 km/h is 11.5 ms and for 60 km/h is 11 ms. While the throughput for speeds of 45 km/h and 60 km/h with a value of 190-198 Kbps with a low index that throughput does no effect on the application used. © 2022 IEEE.
