In this paper, Ba0.6Ca0.4Fe12O19/Fe3O4/SiO2 composite materials were prepared by a convetional ceramic method and their microwave absorbing properties were studied in the frequency range of 8.2-12.4 GHz (X band). As-prepared Ba0.6Ca0.4Fe12O19/Fe3O4/SiO2 were characterized by the crystalline structure, magnetic, surface morphology and and microwave absorption properties were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Permagraph, Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), and Vector Network Analyzer (VNA). The signals parameters (S11 and S21) data were recorded by VNA. The complex permeability (μ) and permittivity (ɛ) values were calculated by Nicolson-Ross-Weir (NRW). The results shown that Ba0.6Ca0.4Fe12O19/Fe3O4/SiO2 has an optimum reflection loss and broadband absorption and a suitable absorber in the microwave frequency range. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
