Two grades of epoxidised natural rubbers with 50% mole (ENR50) and 25% mole of epoxidation (ENR25) were used to increase the reinforcement index of silica on natural rubber (NR). Those ENRs were mixed individually to the silica-filled NR with varying amounts of 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 phr while compounding on an opened two-roll mill. The effect of ENR50 or ENR25 on curing dan tensile behaviours and also the index of reinforcement of silica-loaded NR was observed applying a semi-efficient of curing method. The silica-loaded NR was cured at a constant temperature of 150 oC. Based on the results, it was known that both the ENRs decreased curing and scorch times but shifted the curing rate index and hence, the ENRs shifted the curing state. It was also known that both the ENRs provided a higher index of reinforcement of silica on NR which provided greater tensile moduli and strength The bigger the ENRs amount; the higher the cure index and index of reinforcement. In the condition of the same ENR amount, the ENR50 showed a more significant increase in the index of reinforcement compared to ENR 25. © 2025 Author(s).
