Whey protein isolate (WPI)/Carboxyl metyl celullose (CMC)-based biocomposite films reinforced with silica dispersions at different compositions were prepared by solvent pouring method. The objective of this experiment was to evaluate the physical, mechanical, water barrier, and thermal properties of biocomposite film typically sought for packaging applications. The results showed that the addition of silica significantly increased the tensile strength of the film, with a maximum value of 27.07 MPa at a silica concentration of 7%. However, increasing the silica concentration also causes a decrease in the elongation percentage from 26.48% to 8.32%. © 2025 Author(s).
