Indigofera sp. contains a high crude fiber, requiring fermentation to improve its nutritional quality. In fermentation, the available surface area is vital for microbial attachment and effective mass transfer, which is dictated by particle size. The purpose of this study to determine the effect of Indigofera sp.-based fermented feed with different mesh sizes on the growth performance and survival rate of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three treatments and three replications was used: Treatment 1 (50-mesh), Treatment 2 (100-mesh), and Treatment 3 (200-mesh). Growth measurements comprised absolute weight, specific growth rate, feed conversion ratio, and survival rate. The results showed that fermented Indigofera sp. feed with different mesh sizes significantly affected growth performance (p<0.05) but not on survival rate. The 100-mesh (Treatment 2) produced the highest value, with absolute growth of 2.14±0.04 g, SGR 1.22±0.01%, FCR 1.19±0.02, and SR above 85%. This study concluded that fermented Indigofera sp. feed with a 100-mesh size optimizes growth of tilapia and supports SDG 14 through sustainable aquaculture feed alternatives. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
